Pom-pom Prayer Pals
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Large pom-pomsassorted colors or bathscrubbies
Arm and leg patterns
Construction paper orcraft foam
Markers
Wiggly eyes
Hot glue gun or glue dots (for teacher use only)
If you have younger children, do the following before they arrive to class. If the children are older, they can do these themselves.
Cut out arms and legs from the constructionpaper, two of each per child.
Write Praise on one arm, Repent on the other.
Write Ask on one leg and Yield on the other.
Fold the arms and legs up accordion-style. Once they are glued to the pom-pom, they will dangledown and can be stretched out to read the words.
Explain to the children that their praying pal willhelp them remember what to include in theirprayers:
Pis for praisethanking God for all His good-ness and love to them.
Ris for repentfeeling sorry for your sins.
Ais for ask asking for forgiveness.
Yis for yieldgiving God permission to dowhatever He thinks is best for us.Let the children take their pom-pom prayer palshome to remind them how to pray.
Prayer Chain
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Construction paper cut in strips
Glue, staples, or tape
Markers
This is an inexpensive but very important craftthat you can keep in your classroom or the kids cantake homeor both!
If your program follows a theme, use a shape thataccompanies the theme. You can string the papersacross the one wall of your room.
1. Cut a 9″ x 10″ piece of construction paper intostrips that are 1.5″ x 9″.
2. Have the children write a prayer requestif they are too young to write, have them draw apicture that will remind them of the request.
3. Loop the papers together to form a chain.You can use assorted colors of papertie them into a spiritual theme:
Red represents the sacrifice Jesus gave so that wecould be saved
White represents our lives after we accept Jesus.
Green represents growing in Him.
Gold or yellow represent the heaven He is preparing for us.
Give the kids the option of rolling their prayer requests toward the outside OR the insidesome prayer requests are more private than others.
