Telling a Bible story is often the highlight of any Sunday School class or devotion time. At least it should be. But sometimes we can lose our kids attention if we dont get a little creative when sharing Gods Word. Here is a second idea for Bible storytelling that I have been sharing in my articles. It is probably my favorite one

Bible Storytelling Idea #2: The Big Bible Box One day I was skimming through an old puppet book I have that gives lots of creative things to do with puppets. I came across this one idea that utilized a shoebox as a stage for some stick puppets while telling the story. This got me thinking about how I could use even a bigger box to creatively share a Bible story.

I went to my local box store and purchased a 20-inch square box. I brought it home and then covered each side with a different color of laminated poster board. I made sure all the sides were nicely sealed and then I began hunting for the story I wanted to share.

I was excited because I had recently found a website that offers sequential coloring pages for some of the most prominent Bible stories. Most Bible coloring page sites only give you one picture that portrays the essence of the story. The site ishttp://www.coloring.ws/christian.htm.

I had to tell the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and found just the pictures I needed. Since my box has six sides, I narrowed my story down to six pictures that portrayed the scenes of the story. I enlarged each of the pictures so that they would take up the space on each side of the box and I also colored them and then finally laminated them. I taped each picture to a side of the box and then I was ready to practice my storytelling.

You definitely want to spend time practicing your story because of the size of the box. You also need to become comfortable at remembering where each picture is in your story. But the effort and time you put into it will be well worth it. All my kids LOVED it! It was a big success and most of all, this idea kept their full attention. I even asked them some review questions afterwards and they got them all correct.

Store your box in a safe place and come up with other Bible stories to share. Trust me. Your kids wont call you square!
