Jäna has set up residence and ministry in historical central Long Beach known as DrakePark by purchasing a small apartment building and designating an apartment called “Friend’s House.” It is here you will find Jäna and friends ministering to inner-city families in the neighborhood. Friend’s House at Drake Park is a non-profit corporation set up to oversee activities such as their weekly Good News Club for children, youth programs for boys and girls, guitar classes, soccer teams, and adult English as a Second Language classes. Another activity of Friend’s House is Fun Nite, held on October 31st, where more than 500 neighborhood kids enjoy an evening of safe fun with over 300 children hearing a 10-minute Gospel presentation.

In 1972, prior to setting up the above ministry in Long Beach, Jäna began working with the Silacayoapan Mixtec people in Mexico as a Wycliffe Translator. She and her co-worker gave the Mixtec language an alphabet, studied the grammar and in 1999 after much research, translated and published the New Testament in the Mixtec language.
