“DAD’S GREATEST GIFT” —

"DAD'S GREATEST GIFT" -- Luke 7:36-8:3 -- PUPPETS: Butch & Sally
BUTCH: Hey, do you know what day it is?
SALLY: Yeah, its Sunday, June 17, 2001.
BUTCH: No, I dont mean the date.
SALLY: But it IS Sunday, June 15, 1997.
BUTCH: Okay, but do you know what is special about Sunday, (date)?
SALLY: (Pauses, thinking) Uhhhh...nope!
BUTCH: (Groans)
SALLY: (Giggles)
BUTCH: You are impossible! Its a wonder you made it past the first grade!
SALLY: Well, Im still in the first grade...
BUTCH: (Groans again) Its Fathers Day, Banana brains! Fathers Day!
SALLY: Oh...why didnt you say so?
BUTCH: I was trying to...
SALLY: Oh no!
BUTCH: What? Why "Oh no"?
SALLY: I havent bought a gift for my dad yet. What can I get for him?
BUTCH: Im gonna get some golf balls for my dad. Hes always losing his. How about some after
shave stuff. We men love that kind of thing. Drives the ladies crazy.
SALLY: Pleeaassee... you drive em crazy without it! Do you have a better idea?
BUTCH: As a matter of fact, I do! You dont have to spend lots of money on your dad. My dad
says that to us each year and he also says thats the only time we listen to him. Im not sure
what that means. But you can get him something that doesnt cost money.
SALLY: What?
BUTCH: Love!
SALLY: Love? I think your onto something here. But how do you give your dad love?
BUTCH: Lots of ways. Draw him a picture. Sit on his lap. Give him a great big hug. Help him do
things. You can show love in all kinds of ways.
SALLY: I like that idea. Thats what Ill do. Ill give my dad love.
BUTCH: Boys and girls, give your dad, granddad, and all those special men in your lives the
best gift of all this Fathers Day. Give them your love. In fact, if your dad, or granddad or
a special uncle or person is here today, why not go right now and give them all a great big
hug!
