JOYFUL INSTRUMENTS: A SUPER FUN BIBLE MEMORY VERSE ACTIVITY FOR YOUR PRESCHOOLERS

Singing joyful songs to God should be on the lips of every Christian at one time or another.  So why not teach your preschoolers this wonderful skill at the outset of their lives.  Here is a fun Bible memory verse activity for a portion of Psalm 100: which says, “Come before Him with joyful songs.”  Just follow the directions and have fun.

Here’s what you do:

For this activity you will need to find pictures of different instruments.  For example, you might pick the piano, violin, harmonica, tuba, guitar and drums.  I suggest your pictures are 8” x 10”.  Laminate the pictures for long-term use.  Place all the pictures in a large manila envelope.  You might attach a nice label on its front that says “Joyful Instruments.”  You are now ready to play this Bible memory verse activity.

Tell your preschoolers that they are going to learn a Bible verse that teaches how we should sing joyful songs to God.  Ask your class if anyone likes to sing.  Wait for responses.  Now ask your class if anyone has sung to Jesus.  Wait for responses.  Read the part of Psalm 100:2 which says, “Come before Him with joyful songs.”  Tell the children that this means we can sing to God with songs of happiness. Have the children say the verse together several times.  Now ask you class if any of them play a musical instrument.  Wait for responses.  Say to your little ones that inside your envelope you have pictures of some musical instruments.  Explain that after

each time the class says the Bible memory verse together, you will reveal a portion of the picture by sliding it up out of the envelope.  Give the children a chance to guess what the instrument is after each portion is revealed.  When the guess is correct, congratulate them on a job well done.  Continue to play the same way for each picture.
